Apologies for not revealing my real name. Since I'm very new to the blogosphere and generally a rather cautious person, I prefer to remain anonymous for starters. Maybe some time in the future, I will reveal my name and official website to the public.
Six years ago, I started working freelance as a classical singer mainly in concert repertoire all over Europe. I did some opera and would love to do so much more, but usually it remains with one or two projects a year, since I really do love working freelance. I quit singing in choirs a little while ago but I would generally consider myself as ensemble suitable. I studied with a well known English Tenor and a wonderful, not so well known, Hungarian Soprano and I'm still in touch with both my teachers and love every single thing they taught me (I think, I got a little carried away here... but hey, it's my teachers!1!!). I am very grateful for all the wonderful and not so wonderful advise from unnumbered colleagues come friends and now it's time to give back.
This blog shall be my contribution to all the generosity and well meaning of all people who helped me on my way.
London is the place I consider my home and obviously I commute a lot. Most of my work takes place in Germany, since there are vast possibilities for classical singers and a word of advice: You better get in touch with the German professional radio choirs, if you're looking for opportunities to find work in Germany - this is always a fine address to start at!
Please feel free to drop me a line if you want to criticise anything at all! I am the last person who thinks to speak ex cathedra. I just love singing and working with voice in general. It is my very least intention to hurt anybody's feelings, but sometimes, especially if it comes to urban myths, esoterical aspects and homoeophathy, I really do need to say my opinion. Feel free to oppose me in the comment section or simply send me an e-mail to:
yabc.shutupandsing@gmail.com
Look after yourselves. I shall now shut up and sing.
PS: This blog is called "Shut up and sing" for numerous reasons. First is definitively the fabulous documentary film called "Shut up & Sing" on the Dixie Chicks in the wake of singer Natalie Maines' anti-George W. Bush statement at a 2003 concert here in London. And secondly, since I can't seem to stop talking if the subject is voice related.
